Reel Review – Shimano Metanium MGL 150 B (2020 Shimano Metanium)

The 2020 Metanium MGL 150 B is an awesome new reel from Shimano! We put it through the paces the past few months before weighing in with a review. With requests pouring in, its time to share our experiences. In a word, this reel is AWESOME!

Aside from the Metanium name, the reel is hardly recognizable when compared to its former counterparts. The Metanium MGL has reached new heights with features like a Magnesium frame, CoreSolid body (1 piece frame), and an MGL III Spool. The reel itself feels very similar to the Bantam but is several ounces lighter. The finished product is light weight, incredibly strong, and ultra smooth.

After fishing these reels hard for months we’ve seen no reduction in performance. They’re as smooth as the day we opened the boxes, if not smoother. We’ve been using this reel for “finesse power” techniques. These are cross over techniques where you need the ability to throw light baits but you still need torque and power after you get the bite. It shines for jigs, small to mid-size crankbaits, keitechs, topwater, spinnerbaits, dock fishing, etc.

3 Jig Fishing Tricks To Catch Bigger Bass This Summer! Beginner To Advanced!

Summer jig fishing is a great way to catch big bass! In today’s video Matt starts off by simplifying jig fishing for the angler that just wants to build confidence in the technique. He demonstrates jig retrieves before diving in depth into how to adapt your jigs to changing conditions, how to stroke a jig, and how to adapt trailers for Summer bass fishing.

Jig fishing is one of those techniques you can dive as deep into as you want. It can be as simple as a single jig in a great color that you use effectively throughout the year or it can be taken to a whole different level. It can also be taken to the max with different styles, colors, and retrieves. Stroking is a prime example of how a jig can be adapted to get bigger bites. In today’s video Matt explains how to stroke a jig then takes it a step further and shows a simpler way to adapt the technique when fishing flats.

Its up to you to decide how in depth you want to take your jig fishing. Below is a breakdown of the baits, trailers, and colors Matt discussed in the video. He also included the jig combo he was using as well as a few alternatives at different price points. Characteristic Of Fly Fishing Rods!

If you’re critically searching at fly fishing rods, then maybe you already know what you want, and why. If you’re not sure what to appear for in a new rod, then here’s what you need to think about.

These three weights (reel, rod, and line) should be equivalent and balanced. When you are contemplating the “weight” of your fly reel, you are not considering how hefty it is, but how well balanced it would be with your rod and reel. When shopping for a good fly fishing set-up, initial think about what kind of fish you will be fishing for, find the right excess weight line to capture them, and then but a rod and reel to match.

The fly reel is the 1 which holds the spool of line utilized in catching a fish. Also, it functions as the piece which controls the line. If more line needs to be released or if the line slackens, it is the fly reel which adjusts the line to the preferred size.

The SAGE FLY REELS are 1 of the very best fishing reels fishers can get. The SAGE FLY REELS are made slim even if the spool diameter is big. Some of the SAGE FLY REELS does not even have an equipment system. The costs of the sage fly reels are slowly obtaining well-liked and so the costs of these fishing reels are also steadily growing.

If you’re heading following freshwater fish in a stream or little river, a lightweight graphite reel is a good option. If, the drinking water is brackish or saltwater, a reel produced from corrode-resistant material, like stainless steel, is a better choice. These steel reels can also be used for bigger fish.

The subsequent aspect to think of may be the kind of the spool on the reel. The larger your spool is, the quicker your line retrieval will be. A bigger spool will also allow you to have much better dealing with throughout. You will also want to avoid a reel that is as well big for your hand easily. Also, you should know about solitary action fly fishing reels. These are the most common amongst sage fly rod reel combo fishers. For each turn of the deal with you will get one flip of the spool. These reels are a pleasure to maintain and are fantastic for fledglings.
