Crappie Fishing for GIANTS in Trees (Lake Fork ep. 6)

On the last day of the Lake Fork crappie fishing series, Davis Lenzen manages to find big crappie suspended in the deep timber near creek channels. Crappie will suspend along the edge of creek channels in the fall before moving into the creek channels during the winter. Most crappie were caught using a double jig crappie rig in 20 to 25 feet of water.

CRAZY Slip Bobber Catches Crappie in DEEP Water with LIVE Minnows (Lake Fork Ep.3)

On day 3 of my crappie fishing trip to Lake Fork, Tx started off slow. Sometimes you have to use everything in your tackle box to make them bite. A bobber I had never tried before was “The Boss” from Rod n’ Bobbs. This crazy looking bobber combined with live minnows was the secret to get these crappie to bite after a cold front.

Catch Crappie in Deep water with this Simple Bobber Setup (How to tie Slip Bobber)

As crappie start transitioning from their summer to fall feeding patterns, they will move toward deeper structure. When crappie school up on deeper cover, like brushpiles, it can be difficult to wait for your jig to reach those depths, especially when using a smaller jig. A great Bobber setup is to tie a bullet weight and swivel in between the bobber and jig.

Today I attempt to sight fish for crappie on a lake in Wisconsin with ultra clear water. While using a Go-pro, I managed to film a male black crappie on its bed, in early June, guarding the eggs/fry. When bed fishing for crappie, persistence is key in order to get them to bite. Small plastics work great when bed fishing and it showed on today fishing trip.

Find Crappie with side imaging in sand, gravel, weeds (Double Jig Crappie Rig)

How to Use side imaging to find crappie on hard bottom (i.e. rock, gravel, and sand). In this video, Davis walks through how to use side imaging to find pre-spawn crappie that suspend on the structure transition of hard to soft lake bottom. In this specific lake the crappie where suspended over a large weed bed. The double jig crappie rig is a great setup to catch crappie in deeper water.

This video shows how to use side imaging to find crappie during the pre-spawn. Crappie will suspended on the structure transition edge of hard and soft lake bottom areas. These areas are where sand or gravel meet mud or muck. Side imaging is the best tool to find these large schools of crappie as they feed on insect larva in the mud or muck lake bottom.
