How To Catch Bass In Winter: Swimbait Tips For Cold Water Bass Fishing

Swimbaits are easy! They’re not complicated, there is no mystery, and you can start catching bass on swimbaits any time you want. Its all about knowing which swimbaits work at different times and how to put them to work for you. Today Matt breaks down the 3 styles of swimbaits that work in cold water and explains what each style is for.

Do you have a box full of swimbaits but few, if any catches to show for them? Have you lost confidence in the swimbait all together? You’re not alone! A lot of bass fishermen have been caught up in the hype without ever being taught the details of how to consistently catch swimbait fish. Today we’re focusing on why different styles work and when they should be fished. If you go out with confidence and throw the right baits in the right situations, its a matter of time before you start catching swimbait fish.

Raw and Uncut Fishing For GIANT Fish! HUGE Bass On Ultralight Tackle!

Come along for a whole day of fishing! We’re on the Great Lakes targeting bass with finesse tackle and are catching a ton of fish! Its raw and uncut so if you’ve ever wanted to watch a 6+ lb Smallmouth caught from cast to catch on a swimbait, this is for you! Its an epic day of fishing! Come be a part of it!

In this unedited live video Matt utilized a variety of baits. A tube was the major player in the beginning, while the dark sleeper and keitech stole the show toward the end. Matt teaches throughout the day about adapting to changing conditions, specifically targeting bass in clear water, how to fish transitions and breaks, how to target shallow water fish, and so much more! This style of video is unlike anything else we do. How To Fish A Tube: Everything You Need To Know! **GIANT Smallmouth Caught!**

A Tube will catch everything that swims! When you know how to use the different tube styles and sizes, heads, hooks, and colors, the tube becomes incredibly adaptable! They work all year long no matter how shallow or deep you’re fishing. Today Matt and CC put them to work on a pile of 4-6 lb Smallmouth in crystal clear water and take the time to teach you every detail of the technique along the way.

Despite its effectiveness the tube is often overlooked by anglers. Its not as popular as the dropshot or ned rig but if forget to throw it, you’re missing an incredible opportunity! When you learn to mix it in with the other baits it becomes even more effective. Today Matt and CC implemented stubby tubes, heavy wire hooks, and when the bite slowed, mixed in a ned rig to make sure they weren’t leaving any fish behind.

The BEST head we’ve found for a stout (but small) hook! The 1/0 is perfect for 2.5″ tubes, the 2/0 is perfect for all standard tubes/double dip tubes, and a 3/0 is a great pairing for full size 4″ tubes. Again this is a small hook but heavy wire. You can still set it with standard spinning tackle but there is no fear of ever bending it out on a fish. If you know you’re around big fish, this is the head.

This has been my favorite tube head for years. Its narrow enough to fit in any tube and has an excellent medium wire hook.

This head is small for its size due to tungsten’s density so its easier to fit it into various tubes than its lead counterparts. Its an EWG-style hook, not a round bend. Some anglers prefer one style over another, we’ve been experimenting with EWG this past year.

Finesse Swimbaits For GIANT Summer Bass! (Michigan Road Trip)

Come along for a day of fishing for BIG bass with little swimbaits. The guys face brutal conditions (post front and COLD wind in the middle of Summer) but the fish don’t care. The giants start biting right away and with some exploring and fine tuning the guys are able to catch an incredible bag of Summer time Smallmouth!

The guys are out on the road exploring new water. Today they dropped in on unfamiliar lake with a goal of locating big summertime bass. It took no time at all to catch two giant bass but the duo didn’t stop there, they continued to adapt and explore new areas making sure they maximize their time on the water. They used a variety of unique baits and colors to continue getting bit through the wind and changing conditions.

We’ve found on multiple occasions that these brighter, bolder colors work exceptionally well on smallmouth, especially in the wind.
