Wide Open Winter Bass Fishing! Its A Slugfest!

Come along for a day on the water as we pound the fish while battling the cold! Most anglers think the Winter is tough fishing but it can be amazing! We’re targeting fish with a wide variety of baits but the big ones are eating a tube and a jig on this cold Winter day!

This is a Highland Reservoir with water temperatures in the mid to upper 40’s and water clarity of 5 to 8 feet. We found bass positioned in 20-50 feet of water on outside points and breaks with quick deep water access. At the end of the day we found a bonus pattern with bass in shallow water feeding aggressively around the remnants of a grass mat. We caught fish on a variety of baits today but our best success came on a 5/8 ounce jig with a double tail grub, a 1/2 oz Tube, a blade bait, and a Dark Sleeper. If you’re deciding whether or not to fish this Winter, we hope this video inspires you to get back on the water!

Below you’ll find links to all of the baits and equipment used in the video. We’ve included exact colors and sizes so you can perfectly mirror these patterns on your own lake this Winter. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Catching Winter Bass On Almost Every Cast!

Think Winter Bass Fishing is tough? It doesn’t have to be! When you understand how the fish are positioned and which baits will trigger them to feed, it can be amazing! Come along as Tim explores a brand new lake and starts getting bites from big bass on his very first stop!

Most anglers think of Winter as the time to stay at home. If you are going out, you’re probably finesse fishing, dragging small plastics along the bottom. While slow finesse fishing can be effective, its a whole lot more fun to get fish to react! In today’s video Tim is using a handful of key baits to break down a new lake without any mapping. He’s combining visual clues along the shoreline with his vast fishing knowledge, to immediately catch fish. Pay close attention to the details he’s teaching throughout the video and apply them to your next day on the water.

Tim used a handful of baits and some very specific equipment to catch these fish and to map the lake for future trips. Below you’ll find links to all of the gear he used. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Fishing With Spoons: Everything You Need To Know For Fall and Winter

Spoons are one of the most universal lures in fishing but are often overlooked. Today we’re taking an in-depth look at jigging spoons. We start with a look inside Matt’s spoon box to see exactly what he’s using, then we cover how to modify them, the retrieves, and how to use your electronics for this fishing style. Come along as we explore the world of spooning.

In the Fall and Winter the vast majority of big bass school in deeper water. Many lures can’t reach these depths effectively. Amongst those that can, the spoon is the easiest to fish and arguably the most consistent producer. Once you know how to adapt the baits and retrieves to changing conditions, you’ll be able to consistently spoon for bass throughout the cold water months. Don’t miss the details on how Matt modifies these spoons, including how he’s bending them to create different actions.

Matt only uses a few baits for this technique but he uses a variety of colors and sizes for different situations. He also modifies his spoons with different hooks, swivels, and bends. Below you’ll find links to all the different gear discussed in the video. In addition to the baits Matt has included his favorite spooning rod and reel combos along with the budget combo he has caught so many fish on. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Catch Fish Every Time! How To Speed Crank For Bass Right Now!

This is THE BEST technique to consistently catch fish in the Fall and Winter. Over the past few years we’ve dialed in our crankbait fishing and developed a style we call “speed cranking”. It requires specialized baits (We even designed our own specifically for the technique), high-speed reels, and a very unique cadence with the retrieve. Done correctly, it produces incredible results all around the country throughout the Fall and Winter.

Today we’re demonstrating the technique on Dale Hollow Lake on the Kentucky/Tennessee border. This world-renowned lake is home to the world record smallmouth but is also a great largemouth and spotted bass fishery. Before we even left the marina we were catching bass on the crankbait. Throughout the day we found success using a high speed retrieve with aggressive pauses. We caught fish on both the Tactical Crankbait and the Rock Crawler with our best results split between outside grass lines and deep rock points.

There are a handful of lures that are capable of triggering a feed response in bass when they’re not in a feeding mood. The jerkbait, Speed Cranking a deep diving crankbait, and an Alabama Rig are all great methods to trigger a bass but of these, the crankbait is the most predictable around the country. Whether you’re looking for a GIANT largemouth, a world-class Smallmouth, or a trophy Spotted Bass, it can be done by speeding up your retrieve, mixing up cadence, and choosing a bait with the right vibration.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment we use for speed cranking. First is today’s baits and specific colors used, then we separated all of the baits by category and included very specific color recommendations that you can rely on to get bit. We’ve also included the exact gear we use so you’re prepared when the right bite comes and even added in budget-minded alternatives that will help you land these crankbait fish without breaking the bank. The links go direct to Tackle warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Bank Fishing and Kayaking Small River For Bass and Musky!

This creek is FULL of bass and musky! Come along as we drift a new river in search of anything that will bite! We find smallmouth, largemouth, and GIANT muskie as we kayak through deep pools and shallow riffles. With no expectations and no information we adapt to the changing conditions, catching fish on everything from topwater to crankbaits. We even get the opportunity to throw big baits at some fired up musky!

Today’s video is all about relaxing and having a good time. When we arrived in East Tennessee we knew that river drifting in the kayaks was going to be a great opportunity for all sorts of species and this is our first chance to get out and try it. We anticipated big smallmouth in this stream but we had no idea that 4’ long predators would be lurking in every pool! Thankfully Matt had packed a travel rod and a couple big baits just in case… while he never connected on a musky, he had multiple opportunities throughout the day as fish chased and reacted to his glide bait.

If you’ve never considered travel rods they’re a great option for bringing rods along in tight spaces like the kayak. We use travel rods when traveling out of the country but they’ve proven to be invaluable for last second trips. Because they pack down so small they’re great for keeping in the car, truck, or kayak “just in case”.

Below you’ll find a breakdown of the gear we were using throughout the day including the rods, travel rods, and kayaks. The bait and equipment links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item. The kayak link goes directly to the manufacturer’s website where you can get more information on the Sportsman Series kayak.

4 Finesse Baits That Always Catch Bass (Beginner To Advanced)

Struggling to catch bass during the Fall Transition? You’re not alone! While some anglers have located aggressive schools and are catching fish on topwater and reaction baits many others continue to struggle. When the bite is tough, these 4 rigs are what Tim relies on to consistently put fish in the boat.

We all dream about aggressive schools and big bass but all too often we’re met with wind, rain, and tough fishing conditions. We always start with reaction baits in search of aggressive fish but if its not happening, its time to slow down and finesse. The rigs we rely on are a dropshot (both texas rigged and nose hooked), a shaky head, and a senko. Each rig has a purpose and when you learn how to switch between them, the combination can be deadly.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment discussed in the video. The links go directly to TackleWarehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item. We’ve included our favorite colors for each bait as well as our favorite combos to fish them effectively.

Sight Casting For GIANT Smallmouth Bass In The Clearest Water You've Ever Seen!

We’ve found water so clear you can see giant bass swimming 50 yards away! We’re sight casting to them like they’re snook on a saltwater flat and its working!!! Come along as Matt and CC stalk big fish with ultralight tackle in the Great Lakes and catch a monster bag the first day! Don’t let clear water and big fish intimidate you, Matt is about to show you everything you need to know to consistently catch these fish!

If you’ve ever been faced with fish in crystal clear water you know they can be very finicky. Knowing how to adapt your gear and lead the fish so they don’t spook is critical. Once you’ve established how much lead you need to put your bait in their line of sight without spooking them, its clock work. Today we did our best work with a tube and a dark sleeper. The fish ambushing around rocks would crush the dark sleeper but fish on the open flats would only eat a tube worked with tiny pops of the rod tip.

The next time you’re faced with clear water conditions, don’t be afraid to try and catch those bass! Use long leaders, make long casts, and don’t be afraid to search for fish where no one else is willing to go. Below is a breakdown of the baits (including exact colors, weights, etc) and the gear we were using to throw them.
