Fall Bass Fishing For Finicky Bass In Tough Conditions

In the last 2 weeks the lake has been drawn down for Fall, then a hurricane dumped flooding rains and filled it back to full pool! Where did the bass go and how do you catch them during these crazy changing conditions? Come along for a day on the water as we strategize about the changing conditions, implement 2 patterns, and put fishing in the boat.

Fall brings so many great fishing opportunities. The bite can be amazing and there are so many awesome techniques that come into play as the water cools. But what about when the weather doesn’t cooperate? What do you do when it blows, or a cold snap happens, or it floods? Can you still catch fish? Today was a grind for the guys but watch closely as they analyze the conditions, pick key spots based on those conditions, and start catching fish.

Using a 2-pattern approach Matt and Tim were able to have consistent action on what should have been a brutally tough day. While they didn’t catch giant fish they got a ton of bites and identified a pattern for quality fish. When they just wanted to get bit, they ran the backs of shallow pockets with topwater, lipless crankbaits, blade baits, and a fluke. When they needed a better bite they moved to main lake grass mats and covered water until the right fish ate the frog.

Below you’ll find links to the gear the guys used throughout the day. Some of these baits are staples in their arsenal that you’ll immediately recognize, some of them came out to help mimic the small shad that had gathered in the shallows. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you’ll see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

How To Catch Suspended Bass! (Fishing During The Fall Draw Down)

When water levels start dropping fishing gets tough! That is, unless you know where to look. As water levels fall, bass back away from the shore and suspend in open water. Targeting these suspended bass is one of the biggest mysteries in the sport of bass fishing. Today, we’re going to show you how we do it!

Most reservoirs have some form of Fall draw down. One reservoir will drop a few feet to reach Winter pool, another might drop 150 feet. Regardless of how far the water falls, the bass’ overall behavior is similar in both situations. Once bass begin to suspend most anglers will complain of a tough bite. They go from catching less fish, to catching no fish, to not even being able to see fish on the graph in a matter of days or weeks.

What do you do? You adapt! Today Tim is explaining where he looks for these bass and what he uses to catch them. His method is very simple, employing a handful of consistent lures to coax these open water fish into biting. Below are links to the exact baits (including exact sizes and colors) and some of the gear he uses to throw them. Fishing With Spoons: Everything You Need To Know For Fall and Winter

Spoons are one of the most universal lures in fishing but are often overlooked. Today we’re taking an in-depth look at jigging spoons. We start with a look inside Matt’s spoon box to see exactly what he’s using, then we cover how to modify them, the retrieves, and how to use your electronics for this fishing style. Come along as we explore the world of spooning.

In the Fall and Winter the vast majority of big bass school in deeper water. Many lures can’t reach these depths effectively. Amongst those that can, the spoon is the easiest to fish and arguably the most consistent producer. Once you know how to adapt the baits and retrieves to changing conditions, you’ll be able to consistently spoon for bass throughout the cold water months. Don’t miss the details on how Matt modifies these spoons, including how he’s bending them to create different actions.

Matt only uses a few baits for this technique but he uses a variety of colors and sizes for different situations. He also modifies his spoons with different hooks, swivels, and bends. Below you’ll find links to all the different gear discussed in the video. In addition to the baits Matt has included his favorite spooning rod and reel combos along with the budget combo he has caught so many fish on. Fluke Fishing Tricks (Double Fluke Rig) – Catch 2 Bass At Once!!

These fish are smashing the Double Fluke Rig! Matt is on the water chasing a fluke bite (soft jerkbait) and the fish are chewing the double fluke AKA Donkey Rig. If you’ve never thrown a double fluke, its a great option for schooling bass. Matt catches a bunch of fish then sits down and shows exactly how he builds and fishes this rig. Don’t miss the end when he catches a double!

The concept behind the double fluke rig is very similar to an A-rig. You’ve got multiple baits working in unison to trigger a feed response. When you hook up you’ve got the added bonus of a potential double up at any time because the 2nd bait is still free swinging. Building and fishing the rig are both simple enough but if you really want to fine tune it, we’ve got some tweaks for you.

We use different size leaders, different hooks, and different baits to get our baits to run in 2 different water columns (one below the other) to dial in the bite and keep the fish eating our mainline bait first. By changing the hook placement or by switching between the Zoom and Strike King baits you can get the baits to run even farther apart. If you want the whole rig to run deeper, using larger swivels will weigh down the nose of the rig and help it maintain depth after you let it sink at the start of your cast.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment Matt is using in the video as well as the added gear he uses to adapt the rig. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Exploring Common-Feeling Solutions For Drop Fishing Suggestions

Good fishing tips can imply the difference between hauling in a load of fish or going home vacant-handed. Even though it is accurate that because fish have particular tendencies it doesn’t mean they are created in stone. For instance, fishing is generally much more effective if you fish downwind. There are going to be times when you fish and get great outcomes upstream. Nevertheless, if you know their tendencies and fish appropriately, you will advantage by catching more fish on more outings.

FALL FISHING TIPS

Change Your Line Often – Many trout fishermen neglect this easy trout fishing tip. As you know, light line is a should when fishing for trout. Well, mild line tends to kink, coil, and fray easily and needs to be changed often. “Fresh” fishing line performs so a lot much better than utilized line. My rule of thumb is to change my fishing line monthly throughout normal fishing circumstances and much more often if I’m fishing a great deal. Dropping a big trout because of to heavily used line (which has happened to me) is a mistake that ought to be avoided.

The first factor to maintain in thoughts in the fall of the yr is that the climate can change fairly rapidly. This is important for two factors; first when the climate modifications the fishing changes and second when the weather changes the conditions change. As an angler you want to know how changes in the weather impact fishing, and how you can use this information to your benefit. As an angler you also want to be ready for climate changes that include temperature changes in the drop of the year. This is why drop fishing should usually include a pair of fingerless gloves.

The fall is the very best time of the yr for not only catching numbers of trout, but also large trout. As a make a difference of fact I’ve caught nearly all of my trophy trout throughout the drop of the yr. In my experience, there is simply no much better time of the year for fishing than the fall of the yr. As the temperatures drop, use these FALL FISHING TIPS to your benefit as a lot as feasible.

This last point is the most important. Snapper don’t like to feel tension on a bait. If they take a bait, they don’t want to have to ‘pull’ it. as soon as a Snapper requires a fish, it will swim off, and the bait will move a little additional into its mouth. It is at this point you want to strike, by flicking the reel from its ‘light drag’ method to normal drag. This process is designed to get a fantastic hook set.

Other suggestions are to use live worms as bait and use a mild weight fishing line, bass are much less most likely to discover this floating in the drinking water. When the temperatures drop below 45 levels bass move into further holes, try to find these fishing holes above a dam.

Practical Guidance On Wise Fall Fishing Suggestions Secrets

Now that it’s officially drop, it’s time to begin discussing some fishing suggestions for when the temperature drops. When the climate becomes cooler, fishing gets to be a little much more challenging. This is good though, simply because the fall fishing season has so a lot much more to provide like less anglers on the drinking water and hungry fish, to title a couple of.

Easier to land the fish: Fishing at lengthy variety is always much more uncomfortable and full of danger. However hooking a carp under the rods top gives you far much more control. You are straight away in command. I have on occasions scooped a big lump into the net before it has realised its been hooked. Even if the first rush can be complete blooded and brutal, the quantity of line in the drinking water and the decreased opportunity of getting snagged indicates that fish are much more frequently than not simpler to land when hooked close in.

Plunking. This method utilizes weights to maintain the bait in place after you have solid out. If you would like to use the present to FALL FISHING TIPS assist you slightly, just use a lighter weight.

FALL FISHING TIPS

Use “Fresh” Line – Following a spring and summer time of fishing, fresh line is of the utmost importance. You ought to alter your line frequently in any situation, but certainly as the fall fishing period begins. Fresh line, which clearly indicates new line, is a should as fall fishing period starts. New line can make a huge difference in knot tying, casting distance, and breakage.

Walleye are frequently on the move. In the springtime when the drinking water is cool they will usually hang out in the shallows. When it begins to get hot they will often transfer to further water, and a lot of times will be suspended. When it cools again in the drop, they will transfer back in toward shore. You will be presented with a broad range of circumstances more than the course of that time. Getting a great high quality electronics setup is essential if you’re serious about making your working day much more than a boat trip.

Consider fishing in smaller bodies of water as opposed to large locations such as lake Champlain, some of the smaller sized ponds and lakes can create bigger fish. Another bass fishing tip is that the really large fish have a tendency to dangle out alone. Instead of fishing near dams or under lily pads, attempt areas that are much more open and have no obvious cover. Fish about two hours after the sun has established and depart in the early early morning when fishermen usually arrive. Don’t make sound when you are fishing and use the largest bait you can discover.

Following these tips could make all the difference to angling in the drop for you, pay attention to the voice of one that has been utilizing them for many years with fantastic success and there is completely no reason why they ought to not get you from in entrance of that tv and get fishing. The drop is my preferred time of year each in common and particularly for fishing you never know, you might just land your self a trophy fish.

Fall Fishing On Chickamauga: Topwater, Fluke, and Crankbaits

The guys are back on Chickamauga, exploring new water, and catching fish. Come along for a Fall day of junk Fishing as they catch them on everything from deep cranks to topwater to tail spinners and soft jerkbaits. When its “one of those days” you do whatever it takes to keep putting fish in the boat!

Tim kicked the day off with a finesse rod in hand. He was dropshotting deep edges in search of quality fish. When Matt climbed on board the duo turned their attention to reaction baits and were quickly rewarded with a nice fish on the Tactical Crankbait. Soon after they bite shifted again and the guys began switching between a tail spinner, a fluke, and a popper to put fish in the boat. They fished shallow, deep, and everywhere in between. They caught fish in 2 feet and 30 feet of water and worked for every bite they got.

Toward the end of the day the guys accepted the conditions, downsized their baits and immediately saw success. Some days the bass want a tiny offering and this was one of those days. You couldn’t get bit on a walking bait, they’d eat a popper, but when Matt went all the way down to a tiny popper he was immediately rewarded with multiple fish. When the going gets tough don’t just beat your head on the wall, take the time to adapt your presentation, try new areas, and you might just catch the fish you’re searching for.

Catch Fish Every Time! How To Speed Crank For Bass Right Now!

This is THE BEST technique to consistently catch fish in the Fall and Winter. Over the past few years we’ve dialed in our crankbait fishing and developed a style we call “speed cranking”. It requires specialized baits (We even designed our own specifically for the technique), high-speed reels, and a very unique cadence with the retrieve. Done correctly, it produces incredible results all around the country throughout the Fall and Winter.

Today we’re demonstrating the technique on Dale Hollow Lake on the Kentucky/Tennessee border. This world-renowned lake is home to the world record smallmouth but is also a great largemouth and spotted bass fishery. Before we even left the marina we were catching bass on the crankbait. Throughout the day we found success using a high speed retrieve with aggressive pauses. We caught fish on both the Tactical Crankbait and the Rock Crawler with our best results split between outside grass lines and deep rock points.

There are a handful of lures that are capable of triggering a feed response in bass when they’re not in a feeding mood. The jerkbait, Speed Cranking a deep diving crankbait, and an Alabama Rig are all great methods to trigger a bass but of these, the crankbait is the most predictable around the country. Whether you’re looking for a GIANT largemouth, a world-class Smallmouth, or a trophy Spotted Bass, it can be done by speeding up your retrieve, mixing up cadence, and choosing a bait with the right vibration.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment we use for speed cranking. First is today’s baits and specific colors used, then we separated all of the baits by category and included very specific color recommendations that you can rely on to get bit. We’ve also included the exact gear we use so you’re prepared when the right bite comes and even added in budget-minded alternatives that will help you land these crankbait fish without breaking the bank. The links go direct to Tackle warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Where Do Bass Go In Fall? (And How To Catch Them!)

Don’t worry, we can help! As the nights get cooler and your water temperatures begin to drop, you might notice the fish you’ve been catching are beginning to disappear. At first the cooler nights help, the fish become more active and start feeding on baitfish throughout the day but the farther we get into Fall, the fish start behaving differently and in some cases, they disappear completely. Where do they go and how can you keep catching them? Let’s find out…

As we progress through Fall there are two distinct groups of bass. The Fish that go shallow will ambush baitfish around cover. If grass is present they will congregate in the liveliest grass beds, if not they will use pockets along the shoreline to corral bait. The deep fish have already made the transition to hard bottom. You will find them congregated around rock with quick deep water access.

As the nights get cooler, the water temperatures drop, and grass begins to die. The shallow fish will begin to behave like their deep water counterparts and immediately move to hard structure. You’ll find them on laydown trees, dock pilings, and rock. Just like the deep water fish, the best spots to find shallow fish will be where they have quick access to deep water. As this transition happens the baits we use to target them will immediately change.

Below you’ll find a breakdown of the baits we have the most confidence in during Fall. We’ve separated them for shallow and deep water fishing to make it easier for you to choose the right options for where you fish. Many of these techniques will be discussed in-depth in the coming weeks and months but we wanted to give you a head start on them now so you’re prepared as the transition happens. All of the bait and gear links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Astute Options For Fall Fishing Tips – The Challenges For 2020

Fall is a fantastic time for fishing in East Texas. As the evenings get lengthier and the times get cooler the drinking water temperature in the lakes starts to drop. When this occurs, the bass begin to move up into shallower waters so they can fatten up for the winter. This fall feeding frenzy makes for some excellent bass fishing and a great chance for you and your family members to catch a great deal of fish.

Conventional considering tells us that in the drop; the remaining muskellunge, are large, consequently larger is much better. Nevertheless, my encounter is that smaller sized baits are frequently the perfect morsel for that elusive luncker.

The next stage to think about when it arrives to trout fishing in the fall is the reality that utilizing live bait is a fantastic idea. Whenever reside bait is utilized, gang hooks should be utilized. Gang hooks are simply a pair of small hooks tied in tandem, which allows reside bait (especially reside worms) to be presented in a completely all-natural and reasonable method. This makes a massive difference in chunk rates. The base line is the much more reasonable your bait seems, the much more bites you will receive. This is why gang hooks are always a great concept.

Summer is the most tough time of year to fish. The fish have moved into further cooler water; nevertheless they favor to be out in the sun, try fishing in the middle of the working day. Use quick shifting bait this time of yr this kind of as deep-diving crank bait. When fall comes it brings with it some of the best Bass fishing, they have grouped into large schools and are more likely to try your bait.

FALL FISHING TIPS

When I’m following deep water fish holding more than structure, I’ll use a six lb check line on a 7 foot light motion spinning rod. This can have some apparent drawbacks if you hook into a big Striper or Catfish. Been there, done that!

Present Bait Normally – When fishing for trout and utilizing bait (which is a fantastic concept by the way) you want to present your bait in the most all-natural way feasible. Remember, big trout get that way for a purpose. They have been caught before, and have seen nearly anything that you toss at them prior to. For this reason you want your bait to appear an a lot like it does naturally as possible. Gang hooks are the best way I’ve seen to accomplish this task, especially if worms are being used as bait.

The most surefire wager in the weeds is a jig tipped with reside bait or plastic. This walleye entice presentation has proven effective in a wide variety of conditions and at numerous occasions throughout the period. A jig can be very useful when it comes to enticing walleye out of the weeds because of its finesse-function it very slowly throughout the weed edge, incorporating subtle erratic movements as you lift and fall it along the bottom. Using a plastic like Gulp!, with an a lot more potent scent than a real minnow, will also help pull the walleye out from hiding.

Use Reside Worms: One of the best FALL FISHING TIPS there is (especially when it arrives to trout in rivers and streams) is to employ live worms as bait, and they most effective way to current live worms as bait is a set of gang hooks. Gang hooks permit for a completely all-natural presentation, which tends to make a large distinction when trout fishing. Utilizing reside worms as bait throughout the drop of the yr is a fantastic trout fishing tactic.

The toughest factor there is to teach a bass angler learning to splitshot is detecting the bite. The bite will vary in accordance to the activity level of the fish. There will be occasions when they pop the bait difficult and you will know immediately that they are eating the bait. Other occasions there will be a soft, nearly imperceptible tick and then nothing. And finally there is the dreaded pressure bite. The stress bite will consider two types.

These easy drop fishing suggestions will assist you have a much much more comfy and effective fishing journey. Add one or all of these tips to your drop fishing repertoire sooner instead than later, you’ll be happy you did.
