Finesse Swimbaits For GIANT Summer Bass! (Michigan Road Trip)

Come along for a day of fishing for BIG bass with little swimbaits. The guys face brutal conditions (post front and COLD wind in the middle of Summer) but the fish don’t care. The giants start biting right away and with some exploring and fine tuning the guys are able to catch an incredible bag of Summer time Smallmouth!

The guys are out on the road exploring new water. Today they dropped in on unfamiliar lake with a goal of locating big summertime bass. It took no time at all to catch two giant bass but the duo didn’t stop there, they continued to adapt and explore new areas making sure they maximize their time on the water. They used a variety of unique baits and colors to continue getting bit through the wind and changing conditions.

Below is a breakdown of the baits the guys were using. We included sizes, weights, and colors since they differed from some of our typical offerings. We’ve found on multiple occasions that these brighter, bolder colors work exceptionally well on smallmouth, especially in the wind. In addition to the baits we’ve included links to the exact gear as well as a few budget offerings. Summer Crankbait Fishing: Best Baits, Modifications, and Colors (GIANT Fish Hooked!!)

Summer bass fishing with crankbaits can be incredible! Today the guys locate a school of hungry fish and start getting bit on every cast! The feeding frenzy is intense and seems like it will never end. When the bite finally slows Matt pulls out his crankbait boxes and shows his favorite baits, how to tune them, adjust hardware, and choose color but is interrupted when Coop sets the hook on a GIANT!

While today’s target species were hard to come by (the passing thunderheads mixed with sweltering periods of bluebird skies were not helping), the crankbait fishing for White Bass was intense! We’ll never know what Coop was tied into as his drag was screaming but it goes to show the drawing power and excitement that can be had with a deep crankbait during the Summer months. If you haven’t tried throwing a crankbait, the time has come. This pattern will work all the way through Fall and anyone can do it.

Below is a list of the baits Matt showed in the video (including color recommendations) along with the hooks and equipment the guys were using. Additionally Matt has included a budget rod/reel combo option for those that want to dabble with the technique without buying expensive equipment. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

How To Fish Swing Head Jigs For Summer Bass (Watts Bar Lake)

Swing Heads paired with creature baits and swimbaits are one of the most effective baits for BIG Summer bass. Today is Matt’s first time on Watts Bar Lake and he’s armed himself with swing heads in search of bass. Come along as he explores the lake, teaches the fine details of fishing swing heads for Smallmouth, Largemouth, and a surprising mix of other species in today’s video.

The swing head gained a ton of popularity a few years ago when Tommy Biffle saw tournament success with the Biffle Head. In recent years the hype has died back and many anglers have forgotten this technique. While effective year round, our favorite time to throw it is post spawn into Summer. There is just something about it that draws a consistently larger bite than other baits. Its great for covering water, locating fish, and catching those key kicker fish that we’re all searching for.

While it can be done with a variety of creature or swimbait trailers, all of our favorite options are hard kicking creatures. The two that really stand out are the Keitech Crazy Flapper and the Zoom Z Craw. Both baits have a great profile and a ton of action on the back of the swinging jig head. Below is a breakdown of all the baits and equipment Matt used in today’s video. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Shallow Water Finesse Fishing For Summer Bass: Senko, Shaky Head, Swim Jig

The bass are in less than 2 feet of water! How would you catch them? We turned to “junk fishing” to get the bites. A mix of swim jigs, weightless senkos, and a shaky head did the trick. Come along and watch how we break down a new section of Lake Chickamauga, build a pattern, and locate quality fish despite difficult conditions.

Summer bass fishing overwhelms a lot of anglers. Knowing how and when to adapt is difficult until you understand fish movements. Once you understand that half the fish go to offshore structure while the other half focus on shallow cover you will find their behavior more predictable. When the water gets really hot the fish will focus on shade for relief, even when that shade is ultra shallow.

Today we intended to fish offshore structure but the wind had other plans. As the waves we picked up we knew the only option was to focus on the ultra shallow bite. Don’t let Summer heat or changing conditions keep you off the water. Focus on the basics and you’ll find consistent fish in the heat. Below you’ll find a breakdown of the exact baits we threw to target these shallow water fish. Summer Worm Fishing Tricks for Shallow and Deep Water Bass

Are you missing it? There are so many great ways to fish a plastic worm! Come along with Tim as he demonstrates a 2-bait method to maximize your time on the water when finesse fishing for Summer bass. You can fish from 40+ feet all the way up to the water’s edge with these 2 baits rigged a few different ways. You don’t need an entire box of baits to catch Summer bass!

Tim’s 2 favorite baits for this technique are a senko and a Trick Worm (Netbait T-Mac). By adapting the rigging he can fish both of these baits at a variety of depths. When you think senko your mind immediately goes to fishing it weightless around shallow cover but with a little weight (Neko rig) that bait is suddenly effective in 20, 30, even 50 feet of water! The same goes for the Trick Worm. Most guys see a trick worm and think of the floating worm technique but this bait is incredibly effective on a shaky head, Neko, and exposed jighead as well.

Summer worm fishing can be overwhelming. There are so many great baits that will consistently catch fish (and you know we’ll jump down that rabbit whole soon) but it can also be as simple as a couple baits and a couple rigs, to consistently catch fish. Don’t let bass fishing overwhelm you. You can catch these fish and you can do it on a budget. Below are links to the exact baits and rigging methods that Tim was implementing in today’s video. Frog Fishing And Topwater On Lake Chickamauga – Big Bass Caught!

Come along on Lake Chickamauga as we explore a new lake and catch fish! Pay close attention as we refine a pattern and put it into action with no outside information. Chickamauga has almost 800 feet of shoreline but we’re able to build a pattern in minutes and start catching really nice bass! You can too!

Any time you’re on a new body of water (Matt has been to the lake once but never this end and Tim has not been here at all) it can be overwhelming. We’re thousands of miles from home with hundreds of miles of water to choose from where do you start? Matt and Tim chose to start with reaction. They focused on a spinnerbait, chatterbait, and lipless crankbait to cover water quickly. When that didn’t work they turned their attention to the back of a cove that looked promising on the map.

Once in the cove our attention again turned to covering water. Matt focused on a frog so he could quickly work around vegetation and Tim chose a senko to reach deep in the pockets under flooded trees. A pattern quickly emerged and we were able to dial in a combination of topwater, stick baits, and sight fishing. You can use this method of breaking down water on any lake in the nation. Cover water, get bit, and adapt until a pattern emerges.

Below is a breakdown of the equipment the we were using to find success. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item. We’ve also included links to the rods and reels we were using to consistently catch these fish.

Catch The BIGGEST BASS Of Your Life Right NOW – New PB!

Now is the time to catch a GIANT Bass! This period leading to the full moon in June is a critical time for anyone that fishes for bass. We all dream of catching a new personal best (PB), this is the time to do it! The big post-spawn bass stage in anticipation of a big meal before heading to their Summer patterns and we’re going to show you EXACTLY how to CATCH them!

Today’s video is broken down into 4 parts. Depending on where you live and what stage your fish are in, you may want to focus on sight fishing for spawning bass, big soft swimbaits for post spawners, hard swimbaits to draw a reaction strike, or a big topwater in search of that aggressive bass looking for a huge meal before heading offshore. No matter which you choose, the next 2 weeks are critical with the bite culminating on the Full Moon on June 5th.

Below you’ll find a breakdown of all the baits Matt discussed in the video. We’ve included links that go directly to Tackle Warehouse so you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each bait. We’ve also included color recommendations, hook upgrades, and tuning tips where applicable.

***The Wild Willy is very affordable in the big bait category. It will perform better with some minor modifications. We Recommend the following upgrades to the Willy to get the best walk. First, upgrade Split Rings. Second, upgrade the rear treble hook to a larger, heavier hook. If a wider walk is preferred, add 6-8 sticky lead strips on the belly directly in front of the rear hook hanger. These upgrades will give you a phenomenal large walking bait at a very affordable price.***

Underwater Footage From Bass Heaven!! (Is This Even Real?!) Insane Topwater Strike Footage!!

This is the craziest school of GIANT BASS ever! They just finished spawning, they’ve schooled up on outside structure, and they’re hungry! Come UNDERWATER and watch as we throw TOPWATER lures over them. These fish are exploding on a frog, whopper plopper, walking bait, and popper. The topwater strikes are crazy!

Its amazing to see how different the bass treat each of these topwaters. The Whopper Plopper gets hunted down at top speed and ambushed any which way the fish is able to get it. The walking bait is hunted back and forth and ultimately ambushed from the side. The frog and popper are both hunted vertically with the bass shooting straight up and eating the bait belly first.

There is so much we can learn from this! Knowing how the bass eat the baits tells us which baits to throw when the bass are in different moods. We also see that the slower moving baits will rely much more heavily on “fooling the fish” (bait color, sound, hook color, etc) than the faster moving offerings.

Below is a breakdown of the baits in the video including our top 3 baits from each category. We’ve also included our favorite color choices for each style, hook and hardware upgrades, and our favorite rods for throwing topwater. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Post Spawn Crankbait Fishing Tricks – Speed Cranking For Aggressive Bass!

Forget the way you fish crankbaits! If you’re not speed cranking in the post spawn, you’re missing an amazing opportunity to catch big bass. Its all about TRIGGERING a reaction strike. Whether you’re a Southern Largemouth guy or a Northern Smallmouth guy, you have an amazing opportunity right now to force feed your crankbaits to the bass. The crank’s ability to fire up a feeding frenzy is second to none as bass are moving toward their Summer haunts and you don’t want to miss it!

This technique works incredibly well this time of year. It doesn’t matter if your fish are 20′ deep feeding on outside ledges or 2′ deep on shallow rock bars. The method works in both scenarios, you just need to adapt the specific baits to maintain the speed at different depths. We find that carrying a variety of squarebill crankbaits, mid divers, and deep divers will allow you to adapt to changing conditions. Also, traditional knowledge would encourage using ghost colors in clear water but we’ve found that during this period you can see incredible results fishing bold colors like Chartreuse or chartreuse/Blue, even in gin clear water.

Below you’ll find a breakdown of the baits and equipment Matt discussed along with size and color recommendations. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Senko Fishing Tricks! Beginner Senko Rigging To Advanced Fishing Tips

Senkos have a “right side up!” Few anglers realize there is a right and wrong way to rig them. This is just one of the many details Tim is covering in today’s in-depth look at bass fishing with a soft stick bait. He’ll cover the beginner rigging basics but also dive into advanced tricks that will help you refine your technique in different situations.

If you’re only going to fish a Senko once in a while, it should be the 5″. The standard 5″ senko has incredible fishing catching power all over the country. If you want to refine your fishing, target bigger fish, search for a key finesse bite, etc… there is a time and place for the other sizes and styles. Most anglers consider the senko a basic bait but they’re overlooking its value for big bass and power fishing.

Below is a breakdown of all the baits, hooks, and gear in the video. We’ve included color recommendations for each senko, hook sizes to match worm sizes, and more. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.
