Where Do Bass Go In EARLY Spring? And How To Catch Them Before The PreSpawn!

The Fish are on the move! If your fish haven’t already begun to transition, its coming! If you’re not ready they’ll vanish completely and tracking them down again before the spawn is almost impossible without an understanding of their migration. Where are they headed, where will they stop along the way, and how can you catch them when they do? Come along, and we’ll show you.

Different styles of fisheries progress differently. You need to figure out if you are fishing a river, a Delta, a natural lake, a highland reservoir, or a lowland reservoir. Depending which style you’re on, the movements will vary. Luckily, we’re explaining the movement in each one of these fisheries today. As your fish begin to move, you need to understand their ultimate goal is transition toward spawning flats. With that in mind you can identify the nearest spawning grounds to where your fish have been, then identify the key spots along the way the fish will stop on to feed.

As you’re focusing on fishing the key structures along the migration route there are key baits you should be focusing your time on. Top 5 Baits For Late Winter Bass Fishing!

Its still cold but the fish are getting aggressive! Late Winter is a special time full of big bass and exciting days on the water if you know how to adapt. Sure, you can stick to the same Winter baits you’ve been throwing these past months, but you’re not doing yourself any favors. Its time to adapt, let us show you how.

A lot of anglers get confused about the transitions between late Winter and the prespawn. We’re definitely not in the prespawn yet, water temps are cold (mid-40’s in most of the country and even colder farther North) but the fish can sense the change coming and are beginning to get active despite the cold temperatures. This is the time to set the finesse rods down, pick up the reaction baits, and catch the biggest bass of the year.

We use a handful of very specific baits this time of year. We’ve broken the baits down by style and included some of our favorite models and colors for each category. Clear Water Bass Fishing Tricks! How To Catch Bass In Crystal Clear Water!

Clear water fishing scares a lot of people! Unless you’ve had a lot of rain, a lot of our fisheries get clear this time of year. When that visibility increases a lot of anglers lose confidence in their ability to catch bass. Maybe the fish see the line, maybe they see you, what can you do to keep catching them? Its not as tough as you think, and the answers may be VERY DIFFERENT than what you’re expecting!

“Clear Water” doesn’t always mean 10 or 20 feet of visibility, this can even happen when your fishery is usually muddy and suddenly has 2 or 3 feet of visibility. Step one is to stay very quiet. Don’t make excess noise, avoid vibrations, and you’ll get more bites. Step two, target the visibility line (AKA “color line”). Step three is to use lighter line for finesse techniques. If you’re not going lighter, go faster, that keeps the fish from having time to inspect your offering. Step four, shade and wind are your friend. Focus on dark edges that fish can use to ambush food, or days when waves are breaking up the overall visibility.

Fishing Below Freezing For Big Bass! Chickamauga In Winter!

Its Frozen solid! Its 21 degrees but Matt and Tim are back on the water for some Winter bass fishing. Come along for a frozen day on Chickamauga as the guys put together a really nice bag of fish. They’re throwing reaction baits despite the frigid temperatures and its working!

Winter fishing doesn’t have to be boring. The guys were faced with brutal post-front, frozen conditions but were able to power through it with a blade bait and an Alabama Rig. If you’re willing to cover water and build patterns, Winter fishing can be a blast! The lakes are peaceful, the fish are big, and when you put the right reaction baits in front of them, they’re aggressive!

How To Catch Bass In Cold Water Without Slowing Down!

Winter fishing doesn’t have to be boring! So many anglers have fallen into the trap of slow, methodical fishing in the Winter. Did you know you can trigger a feed response by speeding up? Its true! Matt explains the keys to getting consistent bites in the coldest Winter temperatures without ever slowing down.

The key to consistent Winter bites with reaction baits is understanding what it takes to “trigger” a feed response. Its also key to understand all baits are not created equal. Cold water separates the perfectly balanced, perfectly tuned baits, from the endless stream of new tackle hitting the market every year. If you want to be consistent in Winter, fish the right baits with proper technique and its only a matter of time before you start catching quality fish.

There are 3 very different approaches to Winter. You can swimbait for a giant, finesse fish for consistent action, or power fish with bite triggering retrieves to try and find the best of both worlds. Whichever path you choose, Winter fishing is worse the effort. Its incredibly peaceful, there is minimal boat traffic, and the odds of catching a big bass are very high.

We’re covering a variety of jigs today. We’re starting off with heavy duty jigs, both swim jigs and flipping, then looking at all-around jigs, finesse jigs, and ending with micro jigs. For every jig there is a matching trailer that creates the perfect package whether you’re imitating a crawdad, a bluegill, or a baitfish. The key is knowing how to pair them up and when to use each style.
