Finesse Swimbaits For GIANT Summer Bass! (Michigan Road Trip)

Come along for a day of fishing for BIG bass with little swimbaits. The guys face brutal conditions (post front and COLD wind in the middle of Summer) but the fish don’t care. The giants start biting right away and with some exploring and fine tuning the guys are able to catch an incredible bag of Summer time Smallmouth!

The guys are out on the road exploring new water. Today they dropped in on unfamiliar lake with a goal of locating big summertime bass. It took no time at all to catch two giant bass but the duo didn’t stop there, they continued to adapt and explore new areas making sure they maximize their time on the water. They used a variety of unique baits and colors to continue getting bit through the wind and changing conditions.

Below is a breakdown of the baits the guys were using. We included sizes, weights, and colors since they differed from some of our typical offerings. We’ve found on multiple occasions that these brighter, bolder colors work exceptionally well on smallmouth, especially in the wind. Shallow water bass are EASY to catch if you know what to do! Whether you’re on a pond or a giant lake, some very big bass move shallow in the post spawn and we can help you catch them. Some lakes have an incredible shad spawn that you don’t want to miss, others just have fish ambushing bluegill. Today we’re covering the best techniques to target all of these fish!

Pond and bank fishermen can really simplify their fishing this time of year. You can narrow down your arsenal to two baits that will maximize your time on the water. Get up early and hit the water with a fluke and a weedless underspin, you’ll be amazed by the results.

Catching Big Slab Crappie From My Dock!

Giant Slab Crappie! We don’t have to go far, they’re all around our dock! The fish are schooling around the pilings and feeding aggressively on small shad. They’ll eat a variety of baits but we figured out the biggest fish like to eat the float and fly. Come along as JD and I throw light line and ultralight bass tackle for crappie and bass.

Big slabs can be caught on any cheap crappie jig but we’ve demonstrated in previous crappie videos (links below) that your odds of catching the really big ones goes up exponentially when you use higher quality lures. Flies and hair jigs consistently out produce crappie jigs and small swimbaits like keitechs are far superior to traditional curly tail grubs. If your goal is bigger crappie, don’t be afraid to pick up some of your finesse bass tackle and give it a try!
