Bank Fishing and Kayaking Small River For Bass and Musky!

This creek is FULL of bass and musky! Come along as we drift a new river in search of anything that will bite! We find smallmouth, largemouth, and GIANT muskie as we kayak through deep pools and shallow riffles. With no expectations and no information we adapt to the changing conditions, catching fish on everything from topwater to crankbaits. We even get the opportunity to throw big baits at some fired up musky!

Today’s video is all about relaxing and having a good time. When we arrived in East Tennessee we knew that river drifting in the kayaks was going to be a great opportunity for all sorts of species and this is our first chance to get out and try it. We anticipated big smallmouth in this stream but we had no idea that 4’ long predators would be lurking in every pool! Thankfully Matt had packed a travel rod and a couple big baits just in case… while he never connected on a musky, he had multiple opportunities throughout the day as fish chased and reacted to his glide bait.

If you’ve never considered travel rods they’re a great option for bringing rods along in tight spaces like the kayak. We use travel rods when traveling out of the country but they’ve proven to be invaluable for last second trips. Because they pack down so small they’re great for keeping in the car, truck, or kayak “just in case”.

Below you’ll find a breakdown of the gear we were using throughout the day including the rods, travel rods, and kayaks. The bait and equipment links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item. The kayak link goes directly to the manufacturer’s website where you can get more information on the Sportsman Series kayak.

Finesse Swimbaits For GIANT Summer Bass! (Michigan Road Trip)

Come along for a day of fishing for BIG bass with little swimbaits. The guys face brutal conditions (post front and COLD wind in the middle of Summer) but the fish don’t care. The giants start biting right away and with some exploring and fine tuning the guys are able to catch an incredible bag of Summer time Smallmouth!

The guys are out on the road exploring new water. Today they dropped in on unfamiliar lake with a goal of locating big summertime bass. It took no time at all to catch two giant bass but the duo didn’t stop there, they continued to adapt and explore new areas making sure they maximize their time on the water. They used a variety of unique baits and colors to continue getting bit through the wind and changing conditions.

Below is a breakdown of the baits the guys were using. We included sizes, weights, and colors since they differed from some of our typical offerings. We’ve found on multiple occasions that these brighter, bolder colors work exceptionally well on smallmouth, especially in the wind. In addition to the baits we’ve included links to the exact gear as well as a few budget offerings. How To Catch Fish Around Docks: Summer Fishing Tips

If your lake has docks, the fish are under them right now! From bass and catfish down to the smallest baitfish, everything that swims relies on the shade of docks for safety and comfort in the Summer heat. Today Tim goes in-depth showing how to approach dock fishing, explains which docks are most likely to hold fish, and demonstrates some of his favorite ways to target them.

You can spend years dialing in which pilings on which docks consistently hold fish. Anglers make entire bass fishing careers out of doing exactly that. But if you just want to go fishing and consistently catch fish there are some simple tips that will help you choose the right docks quickly. Focus on docks that stand alone. A dock by itself will often hold large numbers of fish that would otherwise spread out along a row of docks. Focus on docks with quick deep water access. If the dock is in deeper water than those around it, there are likely to be bigger fish underneath.

Lastly, choose docks based on the type of fishing you plan to do. If you’re fishing slowly with finesse baits target single docks or areas with limited numbers of docks. This will give you the confidence to fish methodically and really pick the docks apart. If you’re fishing fast moving reaction baits then areas with a lot of docks will give you endless targets to throw to. While you’ll make more casts per fish, the reaction bite is so fun that it often outweighs the alternatives.

Our final tip is about skipping docks. You may have noticed Tim is able to do this effortlessly. While a skilled angler who practices can do this with virtually any reel, the “DC” reels make it simple for almost anyone to do. If you want to get serious about fishing docks, don’t be afraid to try a DC to shorten the learning curve and make the fishing more fun from the start.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment Tim recommends for Summer dock fishing. Of course you can dial in subtle details on your local lake but these baits and this equipment is what we use anywhere we go in the country when its time to target fish under docks. We’ve broken down the baits into reaction baits and slow moving baits to help you make the best choices. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Tim’s #1 Bait Today…
Swimbait- Keitech Fat Swing Impact 4.8″ (Electric Shad): http://bit.ly/2ab7s8v
Hook- Owner Flashy Swimmer 1/4 oz with 5/0 Hook: http://bit.ly/2e8O4Y7

Fast Moving Baits…

-Damiki BTC Squarebill Crankbait: https://bit.ly/35yagXK

-Teckel Kick Knocker Topwater: http://bit.ly/2nvxkoA
(Bone, Bluegill, Chart Shiner)

-River2Sea Bully Wa 2 Frog: http://bit.ly/2axyR2a
(Ghost, TW Gill, Little Allen)

Slow Moving Baits…

-Dirty Jigs Pitchin’ Jig (1/2 oz): http://bit.ly/2amL3of
(Molting Craw, Hematoma, Go To)
-Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver Jig Trailer: http://bit.ly/29W3RZW
(Green Pumpkin Red, Hematoma, Tramp Stamp)

-Yamamoto Senko 5″: http://bit.ly/2axAmNS
(Green Pumpkin, Watermelon/Green Pumpkin, JuneBug)
-Gamakatsu Superline EWG 4/0 Hook: http://bit.ly/2ac92XG

-Netbait T-Mac Worm 6.5″: http://bit.ly/2jndwj9
(Bama Bug, Green Pumpkin)
-Dirty Jigs Canterbury Shaky Head 1/4 oz: http://bit.ly/2aFOs0V

DC Reels work great at every price point. As you move up to higher end equipment the reels become stronger and smoother but the technology that aids your ability to skip works throughout the line. Also, when dock fishing it is recommended to use an HG (high gear 7:1) or XG (Extra High Gear 8:1) to help you pull the fish out of the docks quickly before they tangle in the pilings.

Summer Worm Fishing Tricks for Shallow and Deep Water Bass

Are you missing it? There are so many great ways to fish a plastic worm! Come along with Tim as he demonstrates a 2-bait method to maximize your time on the water when finesse fishing for Summer bass. You can fish from 40+ feet all the way up to the water’s edge with these 2 baits rigged a few different ways. You don’t need an entire box of baits to catch Summer bass!

Tim’s 2 favorite baits for this technique are a senko and a Trick Worm (Netbait T-Mac). By adapting the rigging he can fish both of these baits at a variety of depths. When you think senko your mind immediately goes to fishing it weightless around shallow cover but with a little weight (Neko rig) that bait is suddenly effective in 20, 30, even 50 feet of water! The same goes for the Trick Worm. Most guys see a trick worm and think of the floating worm technique but this bait is incredibly effective on a shaky head, Neko, and exposed jighead as well.

Summer worm fishing can be overwhelming. There are so many great baits that will consistently catch fish (and you know we’ll jump down that rabbit whole soon) but it can also be as simple as a couple baits and a couple rigs, to consistently catch fish. Don’t let bass fishing overwhelm you. You can catch these fish and you can do it on a budget. Below are links to the exact baits and rigging methods that Tim was implementing in today’s video. Senko and Topwater – Kayak Bass Fishing A Small Backwater Creek

Let’s go fishing! Tim is in a small creek with crystal clear water that dumps into a big murky water lake. He’s targeting post spawn bass with a Senko, popper, dropshot, and swimbait. The bass moved into this creek to spawn but now they’re feeding along the lay downs and overhanging brush before returning to the main lake. Whether you prefer a kayak, a bass boat, or walking the shore bank fishing, you’ll enjoy Tim’s tips on saving money while catching fish.

Tim started the day hoping for a quick reaction bite but it wasn’t in the cards. He quickly switched to a wacky rigged senko and caught a ton of fish! The key here is to understand that he was still on the same water. We often push for the reaction bite but when you have limited areas to fish its best to adapt to the conditions. By giving up the topwater and fast moving baits Tim suddenly found himself surrounded with willing fish. While they weren’t in the mood to chase, the slow falling senko proved more than they could resist.

Below is a breakdown of the 4 lures that Tim brought on the kayak. He kept it simple but was still able to cover all his bases and adapt to changing conditions. The links go to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Senko Fishing Tricks! Beginner Senko Rigging To Advanced Fishing Tips

Senkos have a “right side up!” Few anglers realize there is a right and wrong way to rig them. This is just one of the many details Tim is covering in today’s in-depth look at bass fishing with a soft stick bait. He’ll cover the beginner rigging basics but also dive into advanced tricks that will help you refine your technique in different situations.

If you’re only going to fish a Senko once in a while, it should be the 5″. The standard 5″ senko has incredible fishing catching power all over the country. If you want to refine your fishing, target bigger fish, search for a key finesse bite, etc… there is a time and place for the other sizes and styles. Most anglers consider the senko a basic bait but they’re overlooking its value for big bass and power fishing.

Below is a breakdown of all the baits, hooks, and gear in the video. We’ve included color recommendations for each senko, hook sizes to match worm sizes, and more. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

We Got STUCK! Caught Almost 30 LBS!!! Swimbaits, Creature Baits, and Senko!

Low Tide almost got us! We knew a school of giant bass were tucked up in a shallow backwater and we ALMOST made it! After blowing mud with the outboard we had to adapt and run a new pattern. Come along for the excitement! We started off catching bass with senkos and ended with some really nice bed fish. The Delta is always full of surprises but today it came together and we had a blast catching big bass in clear water!

Today was one of those days where we rolled with the punches. Amazingly, when we pulled the boat out at the end of the day we had no prop or skeg damage on the Yamaha SHO despite the brutal beating it took to reach our fish! After the shallow water debacle we lost Tim to a giant sight fish for a few hours. Unfortunately that fish never committed but he did connect with a really nice fish on a swimbait to save his day. In the meantime Matt covered a ton of water and found some very nice fish moved up. He was able to combine a variety of baits from craws and creatures to senkos and bluegill swimbaits to get the key bites he needed.

Tidal fisheries like the delta require constant adjustment. We started out with a plan and made change after change until we locked into a pattern we weren’t anticipating. Once we found sight fish we were able to cover miles and miles of canals in search of matching conditions and every time we found the right water temperature and clarity, we found bed fish. By day’s end we’d caught a handful of big delta bass on a variety of baits and put together a monster limit. Too much fun!

Below is a breakdown of all the baits that we caught fish on (in order of appearance) as well as some of the equipment we were using to be successful.

Awesome Bank Fishing With 3 Tips To Catch More Bass While Pond Fishing

Tim got access to an awesome pond! He’s walking the shore with son JD and friend Caleb and they’re catching nice bass! Come along for really good fishing with a glide bait, small swimbait, senko, and more. Fishing from shore allows you to fish unique angles that boats can’t reach. Tim has a few tips that will make it even easier the next time you’re on the bank.

Tim starts off fishing with an S-Waver. The idea being that glide baits have incredible drawing power, pulling fish up from great distances. Best case scenario, you’ll catch a giant, but even if you don’t you’re likely to see what is lurking in the depths as they come up to examine the bait. Tim’s next trick is to focus on smaller swimbaits in bluegill and panfish colors.

While every pond’s ecosystem is different, almost all of them contain panfish. You simply can’t go wrong with a bluegill imitator. You may find that white or flashy colors will work but unlike most large bodies of water, its always smart to start with bluegill imitators rather than shad imitators. When Tim switches to the senko he shares his 3rd trick for maximizing his time on the water.
When shore fishing its often important to make long casts to maximize your fishing area. At the end of a long cast it can be really difficult to detect bites, especially with weightless presentations. Tim recommends switching your finesse rod to “high visibility” (Neon) line so that you can see the bites instead of feeling them.

Pond fishing is often overlooked and with the current shelter in place around the country, its more likely than ever that you’re pond hopping to catch a bass. Use these tips the next time you do and you’ll be surprised by the results. Below is a breakdown of all the baits (in order of appearance) as well as Tim’s top 3 Pond Fishing/Bank Fishing combos.
