Lipless Crankbait Tricks To Catch Bigger Bass This Fall

Lipless crankbaits catch giant bass! They are incredible producers when fished around shallow grass and vegetation but are equally effective in deep water. You can keep your lipless fishing simple and you’ll catch a lot of fish this Fall, or you can jump down the rabbit hole with us into a whole different world of lipless fishing where we’ll teach you how to use different baits, styles, and modifications to catch more fish!

Many anglers think of a lipless as a bait to cast out and wind back. A simple “chuck and wind” is effective but there is so much more you can do with these baits. From hopping bottom in deep water, to ripping grass in the shallows, the possibilities are almost endless. Tim is a lipless fanatic with the fish catches to back what he’s teaching. If you want to take it to the next level, pay close attention to the details. From sink rates to color selection to hook tricks, Tim is giving away all the details in today’s video.

All of the baits described in the video are linked below. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item. We’ve included our favorite colors, the equipment we use to throw them, and the hook and gear upgrades we use to land more of the fish we hook.

Catch More Bass This Fall Transition! Junk Fishing Tips!!

We’re going “junk fishing” on Lake Chickamauga, come along! Throughout the year we spend a ton of time teaching anglers how to build patterns but during the transition, you need to get every bite possible. Today we mix it up by fishing deep ledges with a tail spinner, fan casting with swimbaits, and breaking down grass flats with flukes and topwater. Come along for a day of junk fishing and exploring on the Tennessee River.

The term “junk fishing” is a reference to fishing without a specific pattern. You may be throwing a jig one moment, a spinnerbait the next, and be slinging topwater toward schooling fish, all on the same spot. Its about adapting to changing conditions instead of running a pattern. We spend all year dialing in patterns but during transition times, learning to junk fish is a must.

Today Matt starts out with a handful of baits he thinks will work but in a matter of minutes he’s already sitting down, tying on different baits, and adapting to what he’s seeing on the water. He’s reading conditions, following baitfish, and exploring. The next time you go fishing you can do the same on your local lake. Below is a breakdown of the baits Matt used to find success today along with the gear he used to throw them. The links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Matt and Tim are BACK! Exploring a New Lake! (Chickamauga)

After 6 grueling trips across the country, Matt and Tim are finally back on the lake together! They’re exploring Chickamauga in the middle of a Summer rain storm. Come along as they find new water, adapt to changing conditions, and catch bass on topwater and reaction baits.

A lot of anglers are intimidated by rain. Some don’t want their equipment soaked, others aren’t sure what to throw when its raining. Today the guys explain why they’re throwing different baits and how the conditions are impacting their choices. Its a unique look into both angler’s mindsets as they are adapting to changing conditions on new water.

While both anglers stuck to reaction baits throughout the day, they both downsized their offerings to get consistent bites. Matt leaned toward topwater while Tim leaned toward swimbaits and tail spins. Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment the guys were using to catch their fish. Buzzbaits and Frogs! Summer Bass Fishing On Clearlake!

After months on the road we’re finally back on Clearlake! Come along as we explore the lake, build patterns, and catch fish! Matt utilizes a buzzbait, frog, and toad to catch a fish in the grass on a hot Summer day. Many anglers avoid fishing in the heat but if you know where to look there are big fish to be caught!

Catching fish consistently in Summer requires an understanding of how and why they position. Shallow water bass love to be close to cover. A consistent food source is also key. In most lakes, if you can find baitfish and grass in the same area, you’re around bass. This morning Matt hit the water at first light. He already knew where to find grass but the baitfish remained a mystery. By getting out early he was able to quickly locate active birds searching for a meal.

It took time to get the first bite but the bird activity confirmed the presence of baitfish and ultimately the presence of bass. Whenever you’re on the water pay close attention to nature, it’s clues can really shorten your search time. Once Matt located fish he used a combination of baits to get consistent bites from bass that were positioned to ambush prey as it passed by the grass beds.

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment Matt used to catch his fish. We’ve included color recommendations for the various baits, the exact combos Matt was fishing with, and even a budget-minded alternative.
