Catching GIANT Striped Bass In a NEW Lake!

Come along as Matt and Tim chase big striper! They’re exploring new water in search of these big predatory fish and it doesn’t take long to find them! The guys start out with swimbaits and A-rigs but quickly realize the fish have gone deep. A quick switch to a spoon is all it takes to get the big ones biting!

The key tonight was finding lures that could be fished effectively in deep water. Tim put time into the A-Rig (A proven producer for big striped bass) but the combination of deep water (30-45 feet) and strong current was too much for the rig. A heavy spoon (1 3/4 oz) in bold colors proved to be the best option. Even in the current we were able to hop the spoons as we back drifted. We had a very short bite window before the river currents slowed but we connected with two beautiful Striper before it was over.

We’ve done quite a few videos on spoon for bass and striper in the past. Matt typically leans toward a jigging spoon while Tim prefers a flutter spoon. Both styles are a must-have in an angler’s arsenal and worth learning how to fish effectively. If you’ve missed our previous videos on the subject you can see them here…

Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment the guys were using this evening. We’ve even included a link to the NET they SHOULD HAVE brought with them to land these big fish with ease. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each.

Matt and Tim are BACK! Exploring a New Lake! (Chickamauga)

After 6 grueling trips across the country, Matt and Tim are finally back on the lake together! They’re exploring Chickamauga in the middle of a Summer rain storm. Come along as they find new water, adapt to changing conditions, and catch bass on topwater and reaction baits.

A lot of anglers are intimidated by rain. Some don’t want their equipment soaked, others aren’t sure what to throw when its raining. Today the guys explain why they’re throwing different baits and how the conditions are impacting their choices. Its a unique look into both angler’s mindsets as they are adapting to changing conditions on new water.

While both anglers stuck to reaction baits throughout the day, they both downsized their offerings to get consistent bites. Matt leaned toward topwater while Tim leaned toward swimbaits and tail spins. Below is a breakdown of the baits and equipment the guys were using to catch their fish. Awesome Bank Fishing With 3 Tips To Catch More Bass While Pond Fishing

Tim got access to an awesome pond! He’s walking the shore with son JD and friend Caleb and they’re catching nice bass! Come along for really good fishing with a glide bait, small swimbait, senko, and more. Fishing from shore allows you to fish unique angles that boats can’t reach. Tim has a few tips that will make it even easier the next time you’re on the bank.

Tim starts off fishing with an S-Waver. The idea being that glide baits have incredible drawing power, pulling fish up from great distances. Best case scenario, you’ll catch a giant, but even if you don’t you’re likely to see what is lurking in the depths as they come up to examine the bait. Tim’s next trick is to focus on smaller swimbaits in bluegill and panfish colors.

While every pond’s ecosystem is different, almost all of them contain panfish. You simply can’t go wrong with a bluegill imitator. You may find that white or flashy colors will work but unlike most large bodies of water, its always smart to start with bluegill imitators rather than shad imitators. When Tim switches to the senko he shares his 3rd trick for maximizing his time on the water.
When shore fishing its often important to make long casts to maximize your fishing area. At the end of a long cast it can be really difficult to detect bites, especially with weightless presentations. Tim recommends switching your finesse rod to “high visibility” (Neon) line so that you can see the bites instead of feeling them.

Pond fishing is often overlooked and with the current shelter in place around the country, its more likely than ever that you’re pond hopping to catch a bass. Use these tips the next time you do and you’ll be surprised by the results. Below is a breakdown of all the baits (in order of appearance) as well as Tim’s top 3 Pond Fishing/Bank Fishing combos.

This RIVER was LOADED with CRAPPIE! (Brazos River, Texas) pt 3

Check out the Piscifun Honor XT http://bit.ly/390mTvc

This video shows the afternoon fishing trip with myself and Ken from HookCityTV. We used the Garmin Livescope to find crappie submerged brush piles and large rock piles while trying to catch the largest fish in the school. Our Crappie setup consisted of the 12ft ACC Crappie Stix jig rod, 1000 size reels, and 2 inch swimbaits. I was setting the hook on so many crappie that when I switched hands to adjust the livescope, I set the hook on the livescope!

What do Crappie eat in Cold, Dirty Water (COLOR CHALLENGE) | Crappie Fishing Lake of the Ozarks

This video explains what type of plastic lure crappie will eat, also how and where to find crappie during the early spring (pre-spawn) phase of the season. Kyler Beckmann and Davis Lenzen (Flopping Crappie) spider rig for early spring crappie on Lake of Ozarks. After a few hours they determined that Chartreuse and Milk color patterns were working the best of all the baits used that day, so they decided to put the best baits to the test in a head-to-head color challenge. They use 1/4oz. jig heads tipped with 2 inch and 3 inch shad profile crappie plastics. They learned that both colors can catch fish, however bait profile is the more important. During this time of year, water temps are below 40 degrees. This causes shad (bait fish) to become lethargic, which makes an easy meal for a crappie. Mimicking the shad profile will help an angler catch more crappie throughout a day on the water.
